‘Christian Rights Activist’ says gay employees are bad hires because of health risks

Christian rights activist Gary Glenn says he wants to set the record straight after his comments about gay employees during a conservative radio show were picked up by liberal media outlets.

He didn’t say gay workers shouldn’t be hired but rather they aren’t very good employees because of the health risks.

People who are gay or lesbian are at “dramatically higher risk of mental illness and substance abuse and AIDS and cancer and hepatitis,” he said during his radio interview about gay marriage with Linda Harvey of “Mission America” on July 2.

And this homophobe is funding campaign efforts to vote out one of the Holland, MI city council members who voted against discrimination to homosexuals when it comes to housing and jobs in the city.

Yeah, that is such a big distinction. "I'm not saying you shouldn't buy this car, but rather that its likely to explode."

Seeing the extra tonnage so many straight people are packing, prescription drug addiction, alcoholism, smoking (GOP loves Big Tobacco), diabetes, breast cancer, prostate cancer, coronary artery disease, persistent allergies - yeah - I can see why gay employees pose such a risk.

Leaving aside the bigotry for the moment, his facts are just wrong. Approximately 1 in 3 people who are HIV positive are straight.

Heterosexuals and Injection Drug Users: Heterosexuals and injection drug users also continue to be affected by HIV.
- Individuals infected through heterosexual contact account for 31% of annual new HIV infections and 28% of people living with HIV.
- As a group, women account for 27% of annual new HIV infections and 25% of those living with HIV.
- Injection drug users represent 12% of annual new HIV infections and 19% of those living with HIV.

The rates are highest for homosexual men, but they almost equal the rates among straight black men and women together.

Medicine and knowledge? Sorcery, I say! Black communities simply need to go back to God. Then God will stop punishing them with HIV.

Or was it the devil who spread HIV? I still can't get that detail straight. Speaking of straight, AIDS is God's way of telling black communities to stop being gay. Shut up! It makes perfect sense, if you turn off your brain and accept it on faith.
